Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 30, 2026
Rain Tracekr uses your location (with permission) to fetch weather data. No personal data is stored on our servers — everything stays in your browser.
Who we are
Rain Tracekr is a free weather and rain-tracking app made by VARØ Industries. It uses Open-Meteo's free API to deliver current conditions and forecasts.
Data we collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers:
- Your location (if granted) is used only to fetch weather data — never stored by us
- No analytics or tracking scripts are run
- No account is required
Geolocation
If you allow location access, your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo's public API to retrieve local weather, to BigDataCloud to look up the place name, and (for U.S. locations) to the National Weather Service for active alerts. Your coordinates are never sent to VARØ Industries servers. You may deny location access and enter a city manually.
Third-party services
- Open-Meteo — free, open weather API. No account or API key required. See their terms.
- BigDataCloud — when you look up by coordinates or use your location, those coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud's free reverse-geocoding API to find the place name. See their privacy policy.
- U.S. National Weather Service — for U.S. locations, coordinates are sent to api.weather.gov to retrieve active weather alerts.
- Google Fonts — font delivery via fonts.googleapis.com. Google may log standard HTTP request metadata.
Local storage
Your location preferences and display settings may be saved in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the effective date above if this policy changes. Since we collect no personal data, changes are unlikely to affect your privacy.
